Self Storage Make Some Space

British homes are shrinking! According to statistics, new-builds have been steadily getting smaller over the past 30 years and many are unable to provide the storage pace needed to accommodate owners’ needs. This coupled with a rising population means there is a shortage of houses and storage in the UK. Instead of moving many people are converting spaces in their homes formerly used for storage. Spare rooms become offices, and attics and garages have become bedrooms. Because we are becoming a nation of hoarders, and the popularity of TV shows such as hoarders highlight this issue, our possessions are increasingly accumulating in self storage unit such as Cube and can be great extensions of your own home in times when it is a lot cheaper to take out self storage than extend your home or purchase a bigger house.

Come and have a look at our facilities today on site in Uckfield to see how Cube can solve your storage problems. We have units available in a range of sizes and can even offer climate controlled storage for more delicate items and special packing and storage of fine art via our sister company Cube Fine Art Services. Get in contact today for more information and to make some well needed space.

For some the highlight of the event is the fashion! So do you have your outfit planned? The BIG Spring Clean!

The current frosty weather might be telling you that it’s in fact winter and not spring... but we promise it is nearing the end of March! So in the spirit of spring cleaning it’s time to declutter!

Feng Shui says that unused items collect bad energy and advises decluttering and arranging your possessions in a particular way can improve your life by encouraging a more positive energy flow. Now who are we to argue... here at Cube Self Storage we are all for decluttering so have come up with a few handy tips to help declutter and Feng Shui your homes this sprint... so make way for that positive energy!

  • Seize the day! Stop thinking that you’ll do it tomorrow, make a date in the diary to dedicate to conquering your clutter and stick to it! You will feel so much better once it’s done.
  • Organise your clutter: Make different piles; keep, charity, store, bin etc.
  • Toys: Weed out unused and unloved toys.
  • Tough Love: Be strict with yourself, if you don’t absolutely need it or haven’t worn it in years, then get it out of your house and make way for the items you do love and you do need.
  • Work room by room: There’s no point messing the whole house up, you will need a retreat from the mess, as the room will probably look a lot worse before it looks better.
  • Don’t do it all by yourself: Find a friend to help you, someone who will adopt the tough love motto!

So in future, think twice before you buy something new or welcome something else unneeded into your home! For those items that you really cannot be without store with Cube Self Storage, get in contact today to speak to one of our industry experts to discuss your storage needs.

Packing and Moving Tips

The big day is looming and you cannot put off the packing any longer! But never fear; here at Cube Self Storage we understand that moving can be a stressful time, so we have compiled a list of handy packing and moving tips we think everyone should know!

Ø  First things first… If you fail to prepare then prepare to fail. It will probably take you much longer than you anticipated! So plan early, better to be prepared as on the moving day you will have other things to worry about.

Ø  Large items: These will need to go into your storage unit or van first, and be sure to utilise space in draws and wardrobes.

Ø  Delicate items: Ensure to protect all delicate items appropriately, otherwise you risk damaging your prized possessions. Bubble wrap till your heart’s content on items such as dinner ware and cutlery… but never on fine art!

Ø  Be Organised: Make labels, Cube offers a range of packing materials and labels to help you colour coordinate and organise effectively.

Ø  Beware of the Box: Boxes are usually unreliable; the last thing you want is your contents crashing out of an ill prepared box, check out our sister company Easycrate who have a range of reusable plastic crates to hire. Crates are also stackable so take up less room in transit!

Ø  Take the opportunity to throw out any unwanted items, donate to charity or of course; put into storage for another time.
